About Us

American Pride Through Education, Inc. is a non-profit organization based in and around Augusta, Georgia.   Our goal is to ensure that America ’s children graduate from high school with a basic knowledge of American history and a sense of pride in being American.  We want them to understand that Americans (unlike any other country in the world) are bound together not by genetics or place of birth, but by a set of beliefs and ideals – ideals that were woven Into the Constitution by our forefathers and from which we gain our freedom.

Through partnerships with local school systems and community support, November has been established as “Proud To Be American Month” in Columbia County.  Soon, we hope to be in school systems throughout the State of Georgia and across the nation.

The Problem

America is in trouble.  Studies prove and headlines illustrate that America is losing its history, its morals, and its values.  Six out of ten high school seniors fail simple history tests.  Less that half of young adults vote.  Prisons are full and there is violence in our nation's schools.  It took the horror of 9-11 to rekindle the patriotic spirit.  Now we are at war with an unseen enemy.

The Plan

Because the 4th of July falls during the summer and most other significant patriotic observations are school holidays, we believe and annual time must be established to ensure such learning.  We believe that students of all ages should participate and that activities be presented in such a way that the information is relevant to the lives of the children.

The month of November was chosen as “Proud To Be American Month” because it encompasses national, state and local elections, Veterans’ Day and Thanksgiving.

The theme for “Proud To Be American Month” is Freedom . . . Its Rights and Responsibilities.

Each week teachers will emphasize two Character Education Words.

Week 1 – Citizenship & Freedom (Election Week)

Week 2 – Patriotism & Unity (Veterans' Week)

Week 3 – Tolerance & Service (Elements of Peace)

Week 4 – Integrity & Respect for Creator (Thanksgiving Week)

Mission Statement

To develop in America’s children an understanding of this country’s history and of the ideas and ideals upon which it was founded: and to make those ideas relevant to their lives today. This will be accomplished through the establishment of a national, annual observance of
“Proud To Be American Month” each November in schools across the Nation.
